Busary Overview
Are you a graduating high school student and a member of St. Patrick Parish, Fallowfield? Planning to head to college or university in the fall? The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) is once again offering its annual bursary to support young parishioners pursuing post-secondary education.
Each year, the CWL awards two $1,000 bursaries to students from our parish who are entering a Canadian university or college. If you’re graduating this spring and beginning a degree or diploma program in the fall, you’re eligible to apply.
What’s Required?
To be considered, applicants must submit the following by June 10, 2025:
A letter of recommendation from a teacher at your school
A copy of your baptism and confirmation certificates
A transcript showing your current mid-term or final high school marks
Explanation in writing, by the applicant, of how they demonstrate each of the core Catholic faith formation values of faith, hope, love, dignity of the person, excellence, community, stewardship for creation and justice. The candidate should speak to these areas in terms of their experience. Please see the Bursary Appendix section below to help guide you in completing the written explanation.
How to Apply
- Apply online: Complete the form below and upload or email supporting documents.
- Apply in person: Applications, along with all supporting documents, can be dropped off at the parish office (addressed to the Chairperson, CWL Bursary Committee)
- Apply by email: Email your application and supporting documents to [email protected].
Important Dates
Deadline to apply: June 10, 2025
Winners announced: No later than June 30, 2025
Presentation: After Mass, by a CWL member (announcement will also appear in the bulletin)
Receiving the Bursary
Upon acceptance to a university or community college, a copy of the acceptance letter must be emailed (send to: [email protected]) or handed in to the parish office addressed to the CWL. Following this, the CWL will issue a cheque to the recipient.

Expectations of the Catholic Graduate
- A discerning believer formed in the Catholic Faith community who celebrates the signs and sacred mystery of God’s presence through word, sacrament, prayer, forgiveness, reflection and moral living.
- An effective communicator, who speaks, writes and listens honestly and sensitively, responding critically in light of gospel values.
- A reflective, creative and holistic thinker who solves problems and makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience for the common good.
- A self-directed, responsible, lifelong learner who develops and demonstrates their God-given potential.
- A collaborative contributor who finds meaning, dignity and vocation in work, which respects the rights of all and contributes to the common good.

Busary Application
The applicant’s studies (attendance at university or college) must commence within one year of the receipt of the award.
