If you are searching for information on the church choir that performs at the regular Sunday Mass, please see the music ministry page.
The mission of the Resurrection Choir is to lead the music for funeral liturgies. Music is a requirement of good liturgical practice and it often provides some comfort to those who mourn.
We warm up our voices in the Boardroom in the annex to Baxter Hall, here at the church, for half an hour prior to the start of the funeral. This serves as our rehearsal time. There are no other regularly scheduled rehearsals.
Our repertoire consists of selections from the Music Issue or The Catholic Book of Worship, regularly sung at the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday masses.
Because funerals are scheduled as needed, we cannot predict when we will be required to sing; therefore many of our singers are retired persons, or those with flexible work shifts. We have a considerable number of singers on our roster, which allows the flexibility of absences for appointments and vacations. We call or leave emails when a funeral is scheduled and we require singers. This notice can be as little as two days prior to the event, but is often three days or more. We ask that you respond with your availability (or not) to your contact person.
If you are a pianist or organist and would like to join us in that capacity, we would be happy to hear from you too.
