Baptized Roman Catholic Children in Grade 2 are invited to receive the Eucharist for the first time during the Easter season. At Saint Patrick’s, we work with our parish school (Saint Anne in Kanata) in preparing our young people for this important development in their spiritual life.
Children of our parish who are not attending Saint Anne, but who are students of other elementary Catholic schools, are welcome to receive the Eucharist for the first time in our parish, either during the special mass(es) that are scheduled, or during the regular Sunday Masses. Parishioners are encouraged to contact the Parish Office in January in order to make arrangements.
Parents of children of the parish attending Public schools, or who are home schooled, should be in contact with the Parish Office at the beginning of the school year in order to discuss their child’s receiving of the Eucharist in the Easter season. As well, Catholic parents whose children are either not baptized, or who are baptized in other Christian faiths should contact the office sooner rather than later in order to make arrangements for the Eucharist.
Instruction for the reception of the Eucharist for the first time is provided by the teachers at Saint Anne for those attending that school, and in each of our Catholic elementary schools.
